Rajasekhar already answered your question! Since mid-60s he had severe
health problems, and there are quite a large number of narrations from
artists; SP Balasubrahmanyam, Suseela, Ramesh Naidu et al, how one or
other song was recorded despite his poor health.
Re: your query, who is karuNaSree, his real name is: Jandhyala Paapayya
Sastry, a well-known poet. _udayaSree_, _vijayaSree_ are are two of his most
known poetry compilations. There are people back in A.P. who break their
heads, discussing, who made whom famous; G thru singing KaruNaSree's poetry
or the poet got fame thru G's mellifluous voice! Out of apprly 50 non-film
disks (I am not counting those non-film numbers recorded for All
India Radio etc.) cut by G, 7-8 of them contain Papayya Sastry's lyrics.
That itself shows G's liking for him.
